Silver Spring, Maryland -- The Adventist Development and Relief Agency
(ADRA) is expanding its medical and emergency aid response for survivors of Indonesia's May 27th earthquake. Implementing projects totaling nearly $500,000, ADRA is providing relief kits to 1,670 families in the heavily affected Bantul region of Java.

To provide temporary shelter for survivors, ADRA is distributing shelter kits to 835 homeless families. The kits contain a large tarpaulin, ground cover, bamboo poles, and rope. Kits including mattresses, woven mats, blankets, and a kerosene stove are being distributed to an additional 835 families. ADRA is working with local authorities to identify beneficiaries.

ADRA International, in partnership with ADRA offices in Germany, Sweden, Norway, Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Japan, Korea, and the Czech Republic, funded the network projects.

Medical teams remain on duty, caring for injured residents both at ADRA's base camp clinic and in remote villages.

Working with local agencies to coordinate relief efforts for survivors in the Bantul region, ADRA will meet survivor needs as they change.
