On late Friday afternoon (local time), 2004.04.23, the North Korean Government asked for help from the resident embassies, int. organisations and NGOs in favor of the victims of the train accident in Ryongchon, near the North Korean bordertown Sinuju.
The international community decided on a first coordination meeting on Friday evening to proceed as follows:
- Early Saturday morning start with a first relief transport from Pyongyang. WHO donated hospital kits (ca. EUR 70,000 / USD80,000) that will be transported with the only available truck in the community, from ADRA. The kits contain: Medicine, chirurgical instruments etc.
Besides two korean ADRA staff a group of employees of int. organisations will do an assessment in Ryongchon.
- On Sunday a cooperate intervention strategy will be discussed and decisions taken. At the same time the ADRA truck will deliver further relief items, such as tents and food - also bread from the ADRA bakery.

Further information will follow, evtl. pictures, as soon as ADRA staff has returned from the site.
