Silver Spring, Maryland - The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) office in Mali rehabilitated three classrooms in the Binguebougou Primary School and traditional wells in two villages. Mats and benches for nine schools in the Kolokani district were also provided.
The wells and school rehabilitation were completed through a participative approach. The construction materials were provided by ADRA and the local material and labor by Student Parent Associations.
The two wells, rehabilitated in the villages of N'Goyé and Togo (Segou), will provide water for students and irrigate the school vegetable garden. More than 1,400 children directly benefited from these ADRA International funded projects.
"These villages were quite motivated to collaborate with ADRA because these projects were their own plans that had not come to fruition due to lack of financial resources," said Fiorentina Ferraro, country director for ADRA Mali. "ADRA Mali is glad to see the results of this project and the appreciation of the local partners," Ferraro continued.
ADRA is present in more than 120 countries providing individual and community development and disaster relief without regard to political or religious association, age or ethnicity.
