Spring, Maryland - Haroldo Seidl, director for disaster
preparedness and response for the Adventist Development
and Relief Agency (ADRA) from 1984 - 1996, was shot and killed
in an attempted robbery early Monday morning, August 4, 2003,
in the town of São Luís, Maranhão, Brazil.
"Haroldo always lived life to the fullest and worked
to improve the quality of life for thousands of people throughout
his career," said Mario Ochoa, executive vice-president
of ADRA International. "We are deeply saddened by his
loss, but are grateful for the contribution of his ministry
and many years of serving others," Ochoa continued.
A memorial service for Seidl will be held Wednesday, August
6 in his hometown of Sombrero, Espirito Santo, Brazil where
he will also be buried. Seidl is survived by two children,
Paulo and Haroldo.
